JH SCHEDULE UPDATE – FRESHMAN WILL PLAY ALMA ON THURSDAY

After losing this coming Thursday’s game with LR Central due to Covid concerns, BJH Coach Matt McBride has found an opponent for Thursday.  The Alma Airedales Freshman team will come to Everett Field in Benton to play the Freshman Panthers.  Kickoff will follow the 8th grade game between the Panthers and the Bryant Blue Hornets.

FR PANTHERS LOSE A HEARTBREAKER; 8th GRADE REMAINS UNBEATEN

The Benton Freshman and Little Rock Catholic Freshman came down to the final play on Thursday night at Everett Field.  Unfortunately for the Panthers, Brooks Ward scored on a 25-yard run for the Rockets as time expired for a 20-14 Catholic win. Thursday evening, the schedule called for Benton Junior High to play at Conway Blue and Cabot South to play LR Central.  But due to Covid concerns at Conway and LR Central, both teams canceled their scheduled games allowing Benton and Cabot South to play in Cabot. BJH FRESHMAN KO NORTH LITTLE ROCK

The Benton Freshman Panthers ripped off 40 unanswered points, after falling behind 8-0, to knock out the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats 40-8.  After a couple of sluggish weeks (an 8-0 win over Cabot North and a 35-28 loss at Lake Hamilton), the Freshman Panthers rebounded in convincing fashion. BJH PANTHERS SPLIT TWO GAMES AT LAKE HAMILTON

Veterans of Benton Football know strange things often happen on the outskirts of Hempwallace when the Panthers play at Lake Hamilton.  Thursday’s Junior High action was no different. The Freshman Wolves upset the Panthers 35-28.  A Wolves team that had scored just once in its first two conference games played keep away from the Panthers. 

BJH SHUTS OUT CABOT NORTH

One play, the game’s opening kickoff, got the Benton Freshman Panthers off to a quick start against the Cabot North Freshman Panthers on Thursday night at Everett Field. Thursday night was the 2020 home opener for Benton Junior High football and it was a great night for the Panthers with a sweep of Conway White.  The Freshman Panthers (1-1) walloped the Wampus Cats 42-21 while the 8th Grade Panthers (2-0) won 36-6.
