Panthers News · PANTHERS HIT THE ROAD TO GREENWOOD 10/23/2020 – Broadcast Options

It’s time for Benton Panther Football!

The Benton Panthers put their 13-game winning streak in the 6-A West on the line Friday night at perennial power, Greenwood.  The Panthers (5-2, 4-0) sit atop the 6-A West standings, playing their best football of the 2020 season, and confident following last year’s 45-38 win over Greenwood.  Benton’s win last year snapped a 35-game conference win streak for Greenwood.  The Bulldogs (7-0, 3-0) are just one game behind the Panthers in this year’s conference standings, in part because of a no-contest in week four due to Covid concerns at LR Parkview, and looking to exact revenge from last year.

Both teams are riding high after big wins over conference foes last Friday.  Benton knocked off Mountain Home 35-7 while Greenwood dispatched Russellville 48-10.

With playoff seeding this year based solely on conference wins  (due to Covid-19 cancellations which have been rendered a “No Contest” by the Arkansas Activities Association), this game has major postseason implications and significant ramifications for the 2020 6-A West conference championship.
